2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Adds More Range and an Off-Road Trim
Everything We Know So Far About the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5
Since its debut a few years ago, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 has gathered plenty of accolades and fans. Now, the 2025 model is ready to take on the competition in the EV segment with more features and a new design. Ray Skillman Avon Hyundai takes a look at what we know so far about the new IONIQ 5.
Capable Electric SUV
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a capable small electric SUV with an attractive exterior and plenty of features. The 2025 model will add range and performance to outdo its rivals. Inside, the layout is heavily digital-focused, but it also emphasizes safety and infotainment. New for the 2025 model year is the off-road XRT model. This new trim almost looks like an entirely different model with many styling changes and a higher stance. The XRT joins the model lineup along with the new version of the N performance model.
What’s New For 2025
Major changes for the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 target convenience and practicality, something that helps the appeal of EV models. A larger battery pack improves the new IONIQ 5’s range and it will also have access to Tesla’s charging network. As mentioned above, a new trim is in the cards with the XRT. One of the biggest trends for crossover SUVs is the addition of an off-road or adventure model. The IONIQ 5 won’t leave this demographic behind as it debuts the XRT.
Breaking Down the IONIQ 5 Model Lineup
The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 will come in six trim levels, including the performance N model and the off-road XRT model. Pricing isn’t available for most of the models, except for the N, which is expected to start at $66,100. The other trim levels include the SE Standard Range base trim, the SE, the SEL, and the Limited. For 2024, the IONIQ offered a Disney-inspired D100 Platinum Edition, but there’s no word on if that will also be available for 2025.
Key Features of the New IONIQ 5
Arguably, the biggest news for the new IONIQ 5 is that it will now add a NACS charging port that gives it access to the Tesla charging network. That means the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 will have access to 17,000 additional chargers without needing an adapter. That’s over twice the amount of DC fast chargers that owners of the IONIQ 5 had access to before. The XRT is also big news with its rugged design and off-road capability. This lays out a template for more XRT trims in the future.
Now Eligible For the EV Tax Credit
Another piece of notable news for the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is that it will be produced at the automaker’s Georgia facility, which means it will be officially eligible for the EV federal tax credit when buying or leasing. Meanwhile, the standard range for the 2025 IONIQ 5 increases to 240 miles from 220, and the longest-range model now gets over 310 miles versus the previous 303.
